The water tanks in pulp and paper mills are traditionally designed directly to serve particular production line only. The waste water is mainly controlled in each production department also independently on the mill conditions. In exposed situations (break or unplanned shut down) the uncontrolled flow to waste water treatment can significantly reduce efficiency of biological cleaning. 

The virtual mill water system composed as simulation of significant mill tanks and processes is used as a tool to design and test architecture of control system MWM (Mill Water Management). The MWM controls virtual mill discovering limits and correct control strategies in order to overcome mill exposed situations.  This happens absolutely free of risk of negative effects on production. This approach saves environment, minimizes production lost and significantly decreases operating costs of waste water treatment.

The virtual mill water system contains all significant tanks and processes to simulate relevant situations in the mill. The virtual mill will be used as a training tool for MWM control system. The user (or virtual mill) can switch off or on any equipment in any time and observe the control reaction of MWM system (see trends).
